Taiwan is not one of, but is the most beautiful place I have ever been. It is my roots. I was born here but left at a very young age. Being back here makes me feel like I’m re-learning what it’s like being Taiwanese. The history, the people, the culture... nothing I’ve ever experienced before.

Taiwan feels like a second home. It’s a place that’s packed with so much culture and welcomes me back with open arms. It’s also a reminder of my Taiwanese-American identity and carries my family history/legacy.

Being Taiwanese American, I've had the pleasure of visiting Taiwan almost every year to see my extended family and explore the beautiful island, venturing from the big city of Taipei to my parents' hometown of Taichung to the countryside of Taitung. One of my favorite memories is when we visited Sun Moon Lake. The atmosphere there is so tranquil and serene. Not to mention, the views are absolutely breathtaking.

From its beautiful landscapes and delicious food to the kind people and rich culture, Taiwan holds a special place in my heart. As a Taiwanese-American, I love visiting Taiwan to reconnect with my roots and learn more about my heritage. It is the place that makes me feel at home away from home.

In my last trip to Taiwan, I celebrated the New Year by standing under Taipei 101, counting down in the rain while drinking boba and eating popcorn chicken. I was with the people I love most in this world and I’ll never forget the exhilaration of being across the world, counting down with the locals, and feeling like I was a part of something so much bigger as we all watched Taipei 101 light up with a gorgeous firework backdrop. It was like a scene out of a movie.

A big part of my childhood was spent in Taiwan, and it's a place I'll always have huge fondness for. A visit once a year simply isn't enough.The vibrant food scene, the culture, the kindness of the people - they're just some of the many things that make Taiwan so wonderful, and that make it home. Nowadays, more often than not, you'll find me making our family's secret recipes of iconic Taiwanese dishes, like beef noodle soup or scallion pancakes, in the kitchen.

@bobaguys
There's nothing that speaks to the East Meets West nature of Taiwan better than boba. It's a huge reason why we wanted to bring boba to the masses and share our beloved culture with the world. After ten years, we're still loving every moment where someone wants to learn more about our homeland.
